Coronado’s Annual 4th of July Rough Water Swim has a great history and this year marks our 60TH year hosting this amazingly patriotic swim. Swimmers of all ages and abilities compete in a variety of distances. All participants receive an event t-shirt (not guaranteed for day-of registrations), finisher medal, and swim cap. This ocean swim is a fantastic way to start the July 4th holiday! Check in starts at 7:00am on July 4th. Early check-in is available on July 3, from 4:30-6;30pm at BBMAC pool 818 Sixth Street Coronado High school pool.

Each year participants come from all over the world to challenge themselves in this annual event. With age groups from under 12 to over 70 years old demonstrating their commitment to ocean swimming everyone will enjoy entering or watching the challenge. General Info

 

 

We want to remind our parents this is an open water race and all youth athlete should have a strong aquatics background. We recommend only kids who participate in water polo or competitive swimming regularly participate in this event. A strong contingent of lifeguards are always present during our races however we ask all parents/guardians to use strict judgement when enrolling their children in this event. We ask competitors 12 years old and under have their coach’s written approval for entry into the Youth half-mile or Youth mile events.

1st- 3rd Male and Female for categories below:
250 Yard swim (12U)
Youth Half mile swim (17U)
Youth Mile swim (17U)
Open Mile swim: 18-29,30-39,40-49,50-59,60-69, 70+, and Active Military Challenge

A picture of this year’s finisher medal will be posted as soon as the design is finalized.

 

Swimmers may wear wetsuits in accordance with USA Triathlon Guidlines any participants wearing >5mm wet siuts in the mile will not be eligible for awards. No fins,snorkels, paddles or other equipment allowed.

Take I-5 to the Coronado Bridge.The bridge exits onto 3rd Avenue. Continue on 3rd Avenue and turn left on Alameda Blvd (Just before the North Island Naval base entrance).  When Alameda ends, turn left onto Ocean Blvd.  Registration is at the foot of the stairs along path to main lifeguard tower. Come early as parking can be a challenge.
